Joseph and Joyce Park, originally from Korea, have lived in Vancouver’s lower mainland since 1997. After Joseph completed a master’s degree in applied linguistics and exegesis at Wycliffe’s training partner, the Canada Institute of Linguistics, he worked as a volunteer with Korean ministries in B.C.
The Parks became Wycliffe Canada members in 2009. After working in Korean ministries and doing partnership development, the couple flew to Papua New Guinea in August of 2010.
Joyce and Joseph have been working with the Kaninuwa people in Goodenough Island, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea, since February 2011. Now, they work as mentors/advisers to help the Kaninuwa people translate Scriptures, make literacy materials, initiate Scripture-use activities and other related tasks.
