Bill grew up in Chad, Africa, where his parents served as missionaries. He attended Moody Bible Institute, completing the mission aviation program, then moved to Edmonton, Alta. to work in aviation. Donna grew up in Fort Nelson, B.C. and Whitehorse, Yukon, and completed Bible courses at Briercrest Bible College and Capernwray Bible School in Germany.
Bill and Donna met in Edmonton and were married in 1981. Bill had a desire to learn about computers so he took some training in computer programming and repair. They joined Wycliffe Canada in 1985 and planned to move to the U.S. to work with Wycliffe’s partner for technical services, JAARS, at their centre in North Carolina. Visas were denied so they “temporarily” moved to Calgary in 1986 to work at the Calgary office, expecting to head to the U.S. or overseas shortly. God had other plans and they have remained in Calgary, raising their two sons and using their skills at Wycliffe’s head office. Their family has grown up and now includes a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
Bill has served in the area of Information Technology, working as a programmer, technician, systems administrator and other areas as needed. Donna served as time permitted while raising their boys. She has worked in various office roles as an office assistant, receipt’s clerk, and most recently as media resources manager. She retired from Wycliffe in 2020.
Together they have seen the importance of Bible translation and the impact that God’s Word has on lives, as people hear and read God’s Word in their heart language. They provide help and resources for Wycliffe staff at home and those who serve overseas on the front lines.
