Danny Foster is the president and CEO of the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL), Wycliffe Canada’s partner for training in linguistics, Bible translation and other language-related courses. When he was first approached more than a decade ago about serving as CanIL’s president, Danny said no.
At the time, he and his family were serving in a language project in Tanzania, East Africa.
“I liked it in Tanzania,” Danny says. “My family liked it . . . I felt like I was having the biggest impact of my life!”
But after thinking and praying about it, Danny realized God was inviting him to have an even bigger impact by helping to train others to serve effectively in Bible translation and other ministries.
“I wanted to equip more people like I was equipped,” he says.
“[At CanIL], we don’t measure success by tuition revenue. All of our metrics are based on how many people we launch into ministry.
“After my second year working at CanIL, seven [of our students] went to Tanzania.
“It was like God was saying, ‘See! Just trust me!’”
